The British Kodály Academy in partnership with the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét is organising a study tour to Budapest, Hungary with a day trip to the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét.

The theme:
Early Childhood Music Education

The tour will include classroom observation of kindergarten, primary and secondary classes, choir rehearsals, lectures and workshops from Hungarian Master Teachers, a visit to the Kodály Museum and a day trip to Kodály Institute in Kecskemét.

When is the tour?
The study tour itself starts on Monday 13th of February and finishes on Friday 17th February 2017 (arrival in Budapest should therefore be Sunday 12th February and departure Saturday 18th February). Of course you may want to stay on and do some sightseeing. This is entirely up to you!

How much will it cost?
The cost for the actual course is £250 per participant (10% discount for those who attended the BKA or NYCoS tour in 2016). This includes all demonstration classes, choral rehearsals, lectures, workshops and discussion sessions (Please note – additional costs will be all travel, accommodation and meals).

How do we get there?
It is easier for you to arrange your own travel given that people will be coming from all over. The sooner you book your flights the cheaper it is.

Where will we stay?
The Hotel will be booked for the whole group and will be somewhere in the region of £45 per night. Obviously if people wish to share a room, the cost would be reduced.

Is there a closing date for applications?
Closing date for applications is 31st December 2016 but please note – there is a maximum of 20 places available on the tour and applications, along with a £50 non refundable deposit, will be accepted on a “first come first served” basis.

What do I need to do to apply?
Email the following information to
Name/Address/email address/telephone number/a summary of any previous Kodály training if any and your current occupation.
A £50 deposit will be needed to secure your place and bank transfer details will be emailed to you upon application.
