Music Teacher March 2017 v11

Click here for full details, fees and booking

Mixed and Female Choirs will have the opportunity to rehearse extended choral works: suggestions so far include works by Bach, Haydn, Carissimi and Tóth. There are also plans to run a Chamber Choir and a Foundation Choir.

As ever, musicianship will be at the core of the daily programme with the addition of Musicianship in Choir. For general course students, methodology workshops will be led by Bori Szirányi, Gerard Klaassens and Lucinda Geoghegan with the option of a choral music workshop directed by Sarolta Platthy and Esther Hargittai.

We have a full timetable of afternoon workshops; guest presenters include Jacqueline Vann (Dalcroze), Claire McCue (Mindful Movement), Sue Hollingworth (Choral) and Ken Burton (Choral).

As part of our programme of evening events we are delighted to welcome Ken Burton directing The London Adventist Chorale and Ralph Allwood who will lead a session on Elgar’s part-songs. There will be dance workshops with Nicola Gaines (Playford Dance) and Rhys and Owain Boorman (Cotswold Morris).

Alongside the general course, for those who would like accredited certification as teachers using the Kodály approach, we will be running the Certificate Course, Level 1 (Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, Instrumental) and an inaugural Level 2 (Primary) course which will be taught by Bori Szirányi. For further information about these courses please see the relevant section of the website.

We hope that you will be as excited as we are by this celebratory extended course. To spread the cost, fees can be paid in instalments.

This course is one of many exciting developments planned for the BKA in 2017 but our ambitious programme for the year needs extra funds to cover the costs. Can you help with a donation?
